About the Stroll Club
Our mission
The Sioux Falls Stroll Club gives dads a place to build real friendships: monthly walks in local parks with our kids, plus workshops and community events built around fatherhood.
Sioux Falls Stroll Club is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. EIN to be added by the board before launch.
How it started
In April 2025, Elliot Nathan, a Sioux Falls father of two, put a date on the calendar and invited other dads to walk with him. The first outing was Elliot, his two sons, and one friend with his kids.
The idea came from the Brooklyn Stroll Club: dads, kids, a park, and a standing time to show up. It turned out Sioux Falls needed the same thing. Walks became monthly. Local businesses started bringing coffee and donuts. Dads who came once came back with a neighbor.
A little over a year later, the anniversary gathering drew more than fifty fathers and their children to a single park.
What we believe
The “Homer Simpson dad” is dead. The next generation of fathers is present, active, and excited to be in our kids’ lives, and we think that deserves a place to be seen. A park on a weekend morning, full of dads pushing strollers and chasing scooters, says it better than any campaign could.
Being present is a skill, and skills get better with practice and good company. So we keep the bar low on purpose: you don’t need a stroller, a plan, or a reason. Show up with your kids and walk. The rest takes care of itself.
Learning to be a better dad and husband
Alongside the walks we run dad-only events that are equal parts useful and fun. Stylists from Atoley Salon have taught a room of dads to braid their daughters’ hair. A therapist has led a low-key evening conversation about the parts of fatherhood nobody warns you about. Next up: an evening with doulas on how to actually support a partner through pregnancy, birth, and the newborn months.
The pattern is the same every time: a real skill, taught by people who know it, in a room where it is easy to ask the question you would not ask anywhere else. Dads leave with something they can use that week, at home, with their kids and their partner.
Where the money goes
The club runs on donated time. Donations and sponsorships cover the things a free, public event still costs: City park permits and insurance, coffee and donuts when a sponsor can’t, signage, and workshop materials. See Donate and Sponsors for specifics.
