Privacy policy

What we collect, and why

When you RSVP to an event: your first and last name, email address, how many kids you are bringing, whether it is your first event, and optionally your ZIP code, whether you want the newsletter, and answers to any event-specific questions (for example a session time). We use this to plan headcounts, coffee, and donuts, to send you a confirmation, and to reach you if the event changes.

When you use the contact form: your name, email, the topic you pick, and your message. We use it to reply to you.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address, which goes to our newsletter provider (see “Who we share it with”).

When you just visit: a page-view count. Our own tiny counter records the page path, the site that referred you (if any), and a campaign tag if the link had one. It sets no cookies and records no name, email, or IP address, so it cannot identify you. We do not use Google Analytics or any advertising trackers.

To stop spam: when a form is submitted, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of the sender’s IP address for a short time so one person cannot flood the forms. The hash cannot be turned back into the address, and old rows are cleared automatically.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your information. It is handled by a few services that help the site run:

• Supabase stores the RSVP list, contact messages, and the page-view counter, on servers in the United States.
• beehiiv sends the newsletter. If you opt in, your email is added there, and every issue has an unsubscribe link. beehiiv’s own privacy policy covers what it collects when you open an email.
• Resend delivers RSVP confirmations and contact-form notifications.
• Vercel hosts the site and, like any web host, sees standard connection logs.
• Google Maps is embedded on event pages to show the meeting spot. Loading that map is a request to Google, which is covered by Google’s privacy policy.

Event partners and sponsors receive headcounts, never your name or email. Board members can see the RSVP list to run the event. We will disclose information if the law requires it.

Photos

Volunteers sometimes take photos at events for the site, the newsletter, and social media. Tell any board member on the day if you or your kids should not be photographed, or email us afterward and we will take a photo down.
